Abstract
The article deals with the academic career of the Czech phonetician Přemysl Janota. It enumerates milestones of his university work, the most influential publications, and evaluates the impact of Janota's personality on the development of the specialized phonetic laboratory in Prague (the only one of its kind in the Czech lands).
It comes to a conclusion that the significance of Janota's work is undeniable and invaluable.
