As in other fields of scientific activities including medicine, scientific progress is amazing. Especially biology, including medicine is taking huge steps forward.
It enabled some famous discoveries including reading the human genome, the introduction of new imaging techniques based on physical discoveries (MRI, CT, PET, scanners, etc.), and also biological and chemical discoveries, such as molecular biology and genetics. This affected the development of research in the field of pain management.
Its modern era began systematically after the gate theory by Professors Patrick Wall and Ronald Melzack in 1965 was described.. In 1973 was founded IASP-International Association for the Study of Pain and continued through her descents recurring every three years, now only two.
In 1993 in Paris, was founded EF1C - European Federation of IASP Chapters. From 2014 EPF-EFIC (European Federation of Pain).
The most important is, however, still research organized at the national level. This is particularly the grant system, which has an international impact as well.
