Abstrakt
Treatment of acute and chronical pain condition in musculoskeletal system is an important part of daily orthopaedic practice. In therapy-refractory pain with insufficient respond on established therapies new options are evaluated to achieve new tools for a successful treatment.
Botulinumtoxin is a possible further option in conservative treatment of certain therapy-refractory pain conditions, getting closer in the focus in the last years. In following there is an actual critical overview on possible indications for this substance in orthopaedic and trauma surgery, showing the opportunities and limitations for using of Botulinumtoxin in therapy-refractory pain.
