Abstract
The aim of the book is to present the phenomenon of new religious movements from the perspective of religious studies and to enable the readers to understand the circumstances of their origin, the forms of their relationship with the majority society, and especially the causes of violence in which these movements can be - although only seldomly - involved. The book is based on the assumption that in the religious studies of new religious movements, the analysis of violent events is one of the key methods of research.
Therefore, the results of such analyzes are presented in the book, and individual cases are organized according to the situations and circumstances in which the violence occurred.
