Abstract

We would like to thank Antinori et al. for their comments on the European Conference on Infections in Leukemia (ECIL) guidelines for the management of Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia (PCP). Antinori et al. listed four points, which we would like to address one by one.

1) Mode of acquisition of PCP in haematology patients

2) Differences in clinical presentation and hypoxaemia between patients with and without HIV infection

3) Lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) levels at presentation

4) Mortality rates in HIV-positive patients
