The focus of the present Letter is to report to the respiratory medicine community the singular and unexpected observation that the median acetic acid (AcOH) vapour concentration was greatly elevated in the exhaled breath of the CF patient cohort compared to that in healthy controls. The detailed results of this finding and its potential relevance to understanding of CF are reported in a recent paper in the Journal of Breath Research.
