With the suspicion of an abused child, every radiologist can meet during his career. His knowledge is crucial to both the choice of a suitable imaging procedure with regard to the benefit for the diagnosis and the radiation burden of the patient and for the correct description.
However, there are still no detailed recommendations that Czech radiology has led and helped in this complex issue. Working Group Working Group on Child Abuse, working on this subject under the aegis of the European Society of Pediatric Radiology (ESPR), has now decided to support the translation of British recommendations into other European languages.
Thus, this Recommendation was developed for the use of imaging methods for suspicion of an abused child. As it continues to address this issue and concerns child abuse, the recommendation will be updated.
Radiologist plays a crucial role in case of suspicion of an abused child. His work can greatly influence further patient care.
I believe that this document will support all radiologists in fulfilling this responsible task.
