What can be learned from a vulture about God?

Abstract

The article studies three biblical texts (Exod 19; Deut 32:11; Ps 103:5) with an image of an eagle/vulture (Hebr. nesher) and wit its help shows some characteristics of God and his approach to the people of Israel in the Old Testament. The paper deals with linguistic questions of a lexem "nesher", studies some its zoological aspects, but above all proposes - in agreement with intentions of biblical authors - an image of a bird as a symbol of the spiritual journey of Israel with their God.

In the conclusion a similiar image of an eagle/vulture in the New Testament book of Revelation of John is mentioned.
