Abstract

Neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, sclerosis multiplex, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, Huntington 's disease, schizophrenia and tardive dyskinesia are supported by free radicals and reactive oxygen species in the brain. These diseases are difficult or impossible to heal.

One of the reasons is, that they are not diagnosticated in time, when the damage of the brain is not advanced and that antioxidants, which may defend against free radicals heavily penetrate the brain blood barrier and more not any antioxidant acts against whichever free radical. Potential for therapy and prevention may be a the coctail of some antioxidants as carotenoids, vitramins A and C, reduced glutathione, pyridoxine, selenium, rutin, L-carnosin, alpha-lipoic acid, superoxide dismutase, catalase, or others.
