Abstract
For the interpretation of the Bible St Augustine recommended in his work, De doctrina christiana, the investigation of the context and the original languages, along with a comparison of different translations. This study is focused on the benefits and limitations of the comparison of biblical translations for contemporary exegesis and hermeneutics.
