Thirty Years' War and agriculture landscape. The possibilty of analysis of written, archaeological, cartographic and iconographic sources on example of battle by Třebel (1647)

Abstract

The battle by Třebel in West Bohemia last three weeks from the end of august to beginning of september 1647 very strongly influenced local agriculture landscape roughly on area 12 x 4km. The battlefield and camps of emperor and sweedish armies were located first of all on fields, meadows and pasture areas.

Marginaly also on forests. The area of battlefield involved also 8 little towns and villages.

Also some mills. But non of them was damaged by battle totally.

After the battle remain on agriculture land many field fortifications. Most of them were step by step liquidated.

Until today there are preserved only relics of seven fortifications originally located ont borders of forests.
