Skin tests are an essential tool for allergy diagnosis. They are routinely used to determine sensitization to inhaled allergens, food, latex and Hymenoptera venom.
The article presents the main principles of skin tests use in the diagnosis of drug allergy. Indications and procedures of prick tests, intradermal tests and patch tests are summarized by the Working Group for Drug Allergy CSAKI and based on European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI) and European Network of Drug Allergy (ENDA) recommendations.
The attention is drawn to their risks, recommended concentrations for selected drug groups and limitations of skin tests in the diagnosis of drug allergy.
