Abstract

In the human body, silicon has a very important role. Most silicon is found in the bones, in the skin, nails, hair, dental enamel, but also in the aorta, eye lenses, muscle mass, pancreas, thyroid gland.

Silicon is also an essential part of many enzymes and is involved in the formation of connective tissue where it affects the improvement of its strength and elasticity. It has a positive effect on cholesterol lowering.

It is important in the treatment of aluminum neurotoxicity, which is a hypothetical risk factor for the development of Alzheimer's disease. It could be used in the treatment of patients with osteoporosis, where it promotes better incorporation of calcium ions into bone tissue.
