Abstract
The authors describe the most common situations a young internist can encounter when placed on standby. Emphasis on simplicity and clarity makes it possible to immediately detect serious problems and quickly decide how to deal with them.
The new edition included chapters on resuscitation, antibiotics, drug interactions, preoperative examinations, patient deaths, and some legal aspects. Main focus was on chapters, dyspnea, consciousness disorders, gastrointestinal tract disorders, febrile, complications of invasive examinations, biochemical values and more.
