The presence of surfactants can positively influence sensitivity or selectivity of the voltammetric determination on boron doped diamond (BDD) electrodes. However, characterisation of the BDD when surfactants are present has not been examined properly.
Therefore, within this study, the electrochemical behaviour of both anionic and cationic redox probes was investigated by cyclic voltammetry in the presence of cationic surfactants. Furthermore, the voltammetric behaviour of m-cresol, a toxic major water waste pollutant, was studied in basic medium on polished and anodically activated BDD electrode in the absence and in the presence of cationic surfactants.
