Abstract

Basal stimulation is a pedagogical nursing concept, which was developed by Professor Andreas Fröhlich (special educationalist) during work with mentally and physically handicapped children within research for his dissertation. This method is based on individual needs of each person and is closely related to holistic approach in nursing care (it takes into account uniqueness of each person and his routine habits).

It is very professional care, which is done predominantly by paramedics. In the Czech Republic this concept was introduced by PhDr.

Karolína Friedlová in 2003. The goal of my work is to introduce this topic to the readers and to explain on the basic level the most important methods and ideas of this concept.

I have written my work based on literary sources and internet articles. During internet research I found and used information also in German language.

Results of this concept can bring big benefits for the patient and his family. Another very important benefit is that basal stimulation forms good relationship between nursing personnel and patient, which is the base of nursing care.
