New opinion on the pathogenesis of ovarian carcinoma

Abstract

With regard to etiopathogenesis, we can divide ovarian, tubal, and peritoneal epithelial tumors into two groups which differ both in origin and biological behavior. STIC - serous tubal intraepithelial carcinoma is a plausible precursor of the second group - extrauterine pelvic serous carcinomas.

Recent data on the etiopathogenesis of this group of tumors put new demands on diagnostics, but also opens up new possibilities for selective screening of high-risk patients and also for targeted surgical and oncological treatment.
