Karel Daněk, born in Brno in 1941, moved with his family to Nové Město na Moravě. In 1952 he graduated on Prague medical faculty.
Since 1960 he worked in District Hospital of National Health in Nové Město na Moravě. He founded here Department of Sports Medicine and developed Laboratory of Fitness Testing.
He was enthusiastic propagator of gait, cross-country skiing and hiking. He also initiated planning of so called fitness tracks.
He is author of several books where importance of physical activity as a integral component of healthy lifestyle was emphasized. Cerebral stroke significantly limited his activities since 2003, however, he bravely fought with it's consequences till his death in 2017.
