Postprandial microvascular reactivity is significantly modified by endogenous insulin in recently diagnosed Type 2 diabetic patients

Abstract

Highlights: We studied postprandial skin MVR in recently diagnosed T2DM patients. Insulin, and not glucose, was associated with changes in MVR after the meal.

Insulin action was impaired in endothelium-dependent vasodilation. Impaired insulin-mediated vasodilation may contribute to complications.

Insulin sensitising drugs may have beneficial effects on the vasculature.
