The aim of the present study was to investigate gender differences in prevalence of different types of pornography in the national representative sample of Slovak men and women. Participants were selected using quota sampling (per age category, education and region) from the national representative panel of the Slovak Republic.

The final sample included a total of 432 Slovak men (mean age=41.3, SD=15.2) and 413 women (mean age=40, SD=14.6), who confirmed use of pornography. We found that men consume pornography significantly more often than women (t (843) = 14.19, p < .001).

Significant gender differences in the prevalence of consumption in the last 6 month were found in almost all consumed pornography types. The results are generally consistent with previous findings about gender differences in sexual fantasy contents, somewhat surprising result is equal prevalence of paedophilic and zoophilic contents in both sexes.
