Introduction: Memorix of anatomy is a modern, didactic book that systematically summarizes information from general, special and topographic anatomy. Individual chapters of the book describe the structure, division and function of particular organs and systems. A large amount of schematic illustrations (1500 in number) supplements the text. In addition to the required information, in each chapter the matters of interest, mnemonics and detailed information are listed. The book also presents information from clinical medicine in order to help students to understand a clinical-anatomical context better. In each chapter conclusions are formed by interactive tables, charts and questions with schematic pictures for effective revision. The structure of chapters is based on a unique/original learning Memorix educational system which has been created in the cooperation with psychologists and andragogists. Memorix educational system:
1. Structure - helps to orientate quickly in the topic;
2. Main idea - clear, information is structured from the basic to more detailed (step-by-step method);
3. Interesting things and clinical notes are designed to help the learning and creating the correlations with clinics;
4. Schemes and charts created for effective revision;
5. Presenting the learnt information demonstration and discussion in groups have retention rates of information of more than 50%;
6. Questions and pictures for revision - the last step (all questions including the correct answers and number of pages where correct answers are stated) Memorix team is formed by eight main authors, three illustrators, two main book reviewers and dozens of clinical, preclinical and student reviewers. Noteworthy is the fact that one of two principle authors is Radovan Hudak - a medical student at 2nd Faculty of Medicine, Charles University in Prague. The second one is an associate professor - David Kachlik, MD, Ph. D. a clinical anatomist at 3rd Faculty of Medicine, Charles University in Prague. Along with them, the book was created by a number of anatomists, talented students and experienced clinicians which contributes to the high quality and up-to-dateness of the text. Recently, the English translation, bilingual terminology electronic applications (English/Latin) and flashcards for smart phones and tablets are being intensively prepared. Conclusion: Simplicity and comprehensibility of the book are general keys for successful studying and passing the exam in anatomy. Other important factors are ability to motivate students to learn, stimulate students 'concentration for many hours and involvement of all human senses and emotions.
