Abstract

This paper focuses on supporting families with children at regional level in the Czech Republic. Support for families is at the forefront of political interest, and regions play an important role in this area, because they influence the creation of favorable family conditions.

However, there are differences between levels of support for families with children in individual regions. The first objective of this paper is to map the tools to support families with children at regional level in the Czech Republic.

This paper represents the most frequent regional measures, which mainly include subsidy programs for non-profit organizations working with families, regional projects such as Family passes or one-off events for families. A key role is played by the non-profit sector, which is the main partner of the region in the implementation of the pro-family measures.

The second objective is to analyze how the policies for supporting families with children in the regions are institutionally secured, because the institutional arrangement of these policies is perceived as one of the factors influencing the setting and level of support of the families in the regions. It turns out that it is crucial in this respect, how and in what quality institutional arrangement is set.
