Caesarean section scar

Abstract

The caesarean section is the most common OB/GYN surgery. The resulting scar can bring complications both in gynaecological and obstetric terms.

The most common obstetric complications are placentation disorders, extrauterine pregnancy in the scar and uterine ruptures. Gynaecological complications include intermenstrual spotting, pelvic pain, sterility, dysmenorrhoea and dyspareunia.

The scar on the uterus is most commonly and most easily seen using an ultrasound examination. The solution for the gynaecological issues with the scar on the uterus is its surgical correction.

The procedure can be laparoscopic, laparotomic, or vaginal approach can be used.
