Abstract
Publication of the five-hundredth anniversary of the birth of Andrea Vesalius describes the historical development of knowledge from descriptive human anatomy through comparative anatomy and embryology to contemporary experimental embryology and developmental and molecular anatomy. The chapter addresses the history of the Department of Histology and Embryology at LFH UK, later 3.LF UK from its beginnings to the present.
