Abstract
Wound infections are one of the most common complications of puerperal period, bringing women back to the hospital or treating at the emergency departement. It complicates the mother's subsequent care of the newborn and can lead to negative experience in the context of the childbirth and negative effect to the planning of the next pregnancy and eventually to the management of the next childbirth with a strong link to the previous negative experience.
The vast majority of major infections in obstetrics are after caesarean section, breakdown and perineal suture infections are not so common. The article provides an overview of current Evidence Based Medicine (EBM) evidence-based medicine.
