Abstrakt
The important participation of women within the pro-Kurdish parties distinguishes them from other political forces in Turkey. In contrast with other political parties, women in pro-Kurdish parties are present at all levels of party hierarchy and have the ability to weight within the decision-making processes.
The objective of this article is to explain this political choice as well as to contextualize it and determine its roots. The article first looks into the articulation between state repression in south-eastern Turkey experienced by several generations of women and their politicization.
Then, it analyses women's political involvement with regards to the multiplication of spaces open to women in the pro-Kurdish movement.
