Abstract
An introductory chapter of the critical edition of diaries of professor J. Charvát of 1946-1949.
The introduction puts private entries in the diary into a broader context, both as far as private life and professional carreer of professor Charvát, namely his activities in the General Hospital in Prague and at the Faculty of Medicine of Charles University, are concerned.
