The cosmologies in the excavated manuscripts Taiyi sheng shui 太一生水, Heng xian恆先 and Fanwu liu xing凡物流形 reserve a special role for naming as an important part of universal becoming. Through naming, and defining boundaries of things, human beings can become active co-players of the cosmic powers, inasmuch they are able to remain "undefined", to align themselves with the undifferentiated source of all being - "the One".
The paper explores the ways how, in the above excavated texts as well as in the received texts such as Guanzi, Zhuangzi, Laozi or Xunzi, an individual breaks free from the myth and starts to realize his own power through the process of naming.
