This paper focuses on aesthetics of French philosopher Emmanuel Lévinas. Main attention is paid to his considering artwhich is essentially amoral event according to him.
In his conception, the aesthetic event is understood as recipient's return to such experience of "pure" sensibility where has no sense to speak about fully self-aware and self-responsible thinking. Our aim to is to show how Lévinas conception of sensibility (which is, on the other hand, also known for the sake of its theoretical role within Lévinas's explanation of transcendence and ethical relationship) in the case of experience of art is connected with claim that there is always possibility to revert this ethical potential of sensibility into self-sufficiency of consciousness taking care only about its own being - which is the inverse of self-sacrifice of goodness.
