Abstract
The variety of India reflects on the diversity of its languages, which belong to four different language families. The Indian Constitution recognizes 22 official languages, but in India hundreds of various dialects are spoken.
Some languages are the most widespread in the world, but some are spoken only by a few people. Their diversity is complemented by the variety of scripts.
