Abstract

The water wheel was the longest used motor-assisted device. But it was replaced in the 19th century by water turbines.

Highly rated was Francis' turbine because its efficiency came up to 90 % and could have been hooked up to the majority of water facilities. Most frequently is found in smaller manufacturing businesses such as mills and sawmills.

This essay is about one of these horizontal Francis's turbines placed in the Vacek's mill in Sedlčany and approaches its wiring and functioning. It was built in 1936 at the time when use of water turbines was already very common.
