INFLUENCE OF HUMIDITY ON CREATION OF WATER CLUSTERS OF PROTONATED MOLECULES

Abstract

In this contributed paper we present an investigation of impact of sample humidity onto ionmolecule reaction kinetics that forms the basis of soft chemical ionization mass spectrometry techniques. The influence of creation of water clusters was measured using a selected ion flow tube, SIFT, instrument and theoretically estimated using numerical solution of a set of differential kinetic equations.

The system was then applied to the investigation of a corresponding effect on product ions of acetone analyte molecules.
