What is hair? From a biological point of view, it is a type of thread-like outgrowth on the head that is visible at first sight. But what is its significance from a sociological point of view? How have male hair standards changed? And why did some subcultures choose hair as a form of resistance? The presented text mainly focus on typical haircuts that were not accepted by the majority population.
The subcultures are studied both in the West and in the East, where the various practices used by repressive forces against the longhaired youth are presented.
