Kadár, Klos and Wajda: An attempt to compare demytisation of the WW2 in Czechoslovak and Polish Cinematography of the 1950s and 1960s

Abstract

The paper concretises the demotivation film representations of the Second World War in Czechoslovak and Polish Cinematography of the 1950s and 1960s. It compares Andrzej Wajda's films Kanal (1957) and Popiol i diament (1958) and Smrt si říká Engelchen (1963) and Obchod na korze (1965) by Jan Kadar and Elmar Klos.

The result is a motivational comparison and a description of the different context of the creation of the movies. The text illustrates also the different forms and timing anchor of liberalization associated with the period so-called de-stalinization after the year 1956.
