Abstract

The intention of the study was to compare the development of motor performance indicators of Czech children and adolescents aged 9 - 19 years in the period from 1966 - 1987 - 2006 - 2014/15. For this comparison, we used the measurement of Pávek (1977), Moravec (1990), Rychtecký (2006) and our own measurements of 2014/15.

The study of the motor performance trends of Czech children and youth produced results indicating deterioration in the level of fitness of the current Czech youth. Overall, the fitness of the current generation in comparison with the years 1966 and 1987 looks as substandard majority! The most noticeable differences are in the running endurance.

The current level of long-running endurance and aerobic abilities tested by the shuttle run for 20 m is about dozens percent worse than the performance 27 years ago. All performances in all age categories for boys and girls (except sixteen years old girls and thirteen years old boys) are located in the zone below average.
