Abstract

Feedback is essential to effective learning and is one of the most important factors in how well a person learns a new skill. This paper examines how feedback processes influence motor learning, describes a feedback classification system and methods for providing the most effective feedback to learners.

We answer questions about feedback frequency, feedback timing and the types of feedback that can be provided. We discuss the effects of feedback as a motivating tool and propose ways to structure feedback to minimize its detrimental effects on learning.
