Abstrakt
This paper focuses on the introductory provisions of the basic legal documents of the Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren, known as the church constitutions. Attention is also paid to similar provisions in the constitutions of the former Evangelical Church in Austria (the legal predecessor of the Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren), and to the so-called "Čáslav proposal of the church constitution" of 1881.
The author analyses the changes in the contents of the preliminary provisions and points out the dynamic and stable elements in the development of Evangelical church law from 1861 to the present.
