Abstract
Jury trial is one of typical features for English and American criminal procedure. It was introduced to European continental law after French revolution in order to prevent public interest from eventual abuse ofjudicial power.
A century later, jury penetrated to German and Austrian criminal procedure as well. But in continental system its role has been weakening step by step.
After World War II, Americans tempted to introduce jury system in Japan or South Korea. Even there, it has not fully reflected American model.
