Abstract
Unlike a vast majority of European countries, the status of Czech as official language of the Czech Republic is not expressly embedded in the Czech law: neither by the constitution nor by a language act nor by any other act. This paper aims to reflect upon this singularity both by outlining its historical background and considering its possible change.
