Ethics of Migration - Theological Options and Human Rights Potentials

Abstract

The essay focuses on the question of which role Christian thinking can or should play in relation to migration, and on the question of what can and should be the contribution of the Catholic Church in the search for a human rights-based migration ethics. First, the most important Christian topoi, which can serve as a basis for the human rights foundation of a Christian ethic of migration, are reflected.

In the second step, the tasks and challenges that the Church faces today in relation to migration are presented, especially with regard to its human rights potentials in this field.
