Abstract

Communication is a multi-dimensional and in the today's health care services and nursing practice hard-to-seize and therefore upsetting phenomenon for many helping professionals. In our article we focus mainly on the postmodern aspect of changes, clashes and meeting points of the issue of communication, the discussion within the relation between the helping health care professional and the patient/client in therapy in providing the nursing care.

We outline the philosophical structure, including postmodern social constructionalist and narrative resources, which fundamentally influence the discussion with the patient/client, the clinician's ability and skills to invite the patient/client to participate in such discussion and to cooperate.
