Abstract

Adrenal insufficiency may be caused by acquired problems such as autoimunne conditions. The sings and symptoms of autoimunne Adison disease are most easily understood in the context of the normal actions of adrenocortical hormones.

In our child with Addison disease the onset was characterized by gastrointestinal and psychological symptoms (depression). Treatment of acute adrenal insufficiency must be immediate and vigorous.
