Abstract
Tertiary education and its associated aspects have become more common research topic in recent decades. An important aspect of this fact is the increase of the number of university students, or graduates.
From a more general sociological point of view, the accessibility of higher education is also important. So if we want to look at the personality of a university student from any point of view, it is important to understand the background and environment of higher education.
The presented text links several topics - the development of Czech higher education, its perception and role, the direction of development, the topic of massification of tertiary education and the related changes in the social aspects of university students. Equality in education and the reproduction of educational inequalities is also mentioned.
