The Christians who accepted the so-called Brest Union (1595-96) entered into the full commun ion with Rome while preserving the Byzantine liturgy in a Church Slavonic language. Although the Holy See firstly named the Apostolic Exarch for Belarusian Greek-Catholics, and since 1960 the Apostolic Visitor, the activity of the Belarusian Greek-Catholic Church sui iuris has not been officially reactivated neither in their homeland nor abroad
