Abstrakt
This chapter shows how the concept of the body developed since the Middle Ages in the North. Two themes showing the connection of body and soul are chosen: corporality of revenants and shapeshifing.
In both of them the development from Old Norse literature to Scandinavian ballads is reviewed.
