Abstract
The chapter presents contexts of film news and avant-garde tendencies in the Czech film between the wars in Czechoslovakia. It re-establishes the Antonín Navrátil's concept of "Czech Documentary School", which advocates and puts it in a broader context, and it is mainly the result that film avant-gardists have come to film often from film journalism, the journalistic principle is one of the typical manifestations of the Czech documentary school.
