Rilke's "Sonette an Orpheus": An Interpretation (and Translation)

Publication at Faculty of Education |
2018

Abstract

An interpretation of 26 + 29 sonnets of R. M.

Rilke, known as Sonnets to Orpheus. The German original of each one sonnet is followed by a Czech semantic translation, commentary (interpretation) by me, then compared with the commentary of H.

Mörchen (a German rilkologist), with the commentary of E. Leisi (an other German rilkologist).

The aim is to demonstrate that the Rilke's poems are read in a misleading manner: towards a pathos, only a pathos.
