Abstract

Czech translation of the book Making Sex: Body and Gender From the Greeks to Freud by Thomas Laqueur (Rozkoš mezi Pohlavími: Sexuální diference od antiky po Freuda, Praha: Karolinum, 2017) and its publication is undoubtedly an important act. The author collected admirable amount of information, with which he illustrated his hypothesis that the history of gender can be divided to "one-sex" model and "two-sex" model.

The thought-provoking theory that raised many reactions and debates is however slightly undermined by Laqueur's naive conception about objectivity of contemporary sciences.
