Abstract
The aim my paper is the concept of a remarkable funeral phenomenon on the theme of the return of dead souls to the earthly world, the so-called the Mass of Dead. According to folk ideas, some souls of dead people are forced to walk in the earthly world after their death, and to do away with the various ways of guilt of their former life.
This could have happened through the Mass of Dead, taking place either at midnight (the traditional time limit of the world and the netherworld) or in the early hours of the morning. I focus on the environment of Early Modern Bohemia Lands.
