Abstract
Emergency medicine is a dynamically developing medical specialization worldwide. It encopasses urgent pre-hospital care, early hospital care and disaster and multiple victim incident preparedness.
A complex analysis of patient's condition, the necessity of a broad differential-diagnostic approach based on symptoms, and continuous reevaluation of priorities are the characteristic features of emergency medicine. The authors emphasize understanding of pathophysiological disorders, diagnostic deliberation and overall situation management.
